Ithaca beaches

As most islands of the Ionian Sea, Ithaca is surrounded by some of the clearest waters in Greece. What differentiate Ithaca from the other islands are its unspoiled, pristine beaches that look like natural pools. Most of the beaches on the island have smooth white pebbles and crystal-clear waters. There are many beautiful beaches in Ithaca, small and secluded, hidden on the innermost parts of the island. With a little exploration, deserted paradises can be discovered. Hiring a boat is highly recommended in order to find private, idyllic coves.

South Ithaca
On the southern part of Ithaca, there are many nice beaches with crystal blue waters and emerald green vegetation where you can enjoy your swim, such as: Dexa, awarded with the Blue Flag of Greek National Tourism Organization and reputed to be the place where Ulysses disembarked when he returned to Ithaca; Loutsa, a small sandy beach on the left side of the port of Vathy; Filiatro, a windless beach attracting many visitors every summer; and Sarakiniko, a quite peaceful beach, surrounded by a landscape of exceptional beauty.

North Ithaca
Beautiful beaches with turquoise waters can also be found on the northern part of the island, like: Aspros Yalos (Ai-Yannis), viewing the straight between Ithaca and Kefalonia; Aphales, with rich vegetation coming down to the sea and panoramic view towards the open sea; and Kourvoulia, three picturesque coves with transparent waters, looking like natural private pools.
