Ithaca villages

Ithaca Island has small and picturesque villages with red roofed colour-washed houses, old buildings, neoclassical mansions and several churches. Each village, either coastal or mountain, has its own charms.

South Ithaca
Vathy: The largest settlement of Ithaca, as well as the capital and main port of the island. A picturesque village of approximately 2,000 inhabitants, built amphitheatrically around the deep and sheltered bay of Molos.
Perachori: An agricultural settlement, famous for its olive oil, cheeses and wine, built on a hill 350m above sea level, with panoramic view to the sea.

North Ithaca
Stavros: The largest settlement of Northern Ithaca, which stands at the foot of Mountain Neritos, 110 m above sea level, overlooking the Polis Bay, the channel and the island of Kefalonia.
Lefki: A small and peaceful village built on the western slope of Mountain Neritos, with panoramic view to the straight between Ithaca and Kefalonia.
Anoghi: The second most important medieval settlement of Ithaca situated at an altitude of 570m. Although it used to be a main village of the island, Anoghi is quite isolated today.
Exoghi: One of the oldest villages of Ithaca built amphitheatrically on the slopes of the Homeric mountain of Neion, 340 m above sea level, with breathtaking view over the sea and surrounded by a verdant landscape.
Frikes: A coastal settlement built at the head of a long narrow bay, on the east coast of South Ithaca, being actually a shelter for many sailing yachts and boats.
Kioni: A charming coastal village built amphitheatrically on the slopes of a mountain, at the southeast of Ithaca, which has become a modern and busy resort, with plenty of taverns, restaurants and cafes.
